By analogy to what happened in the Dominican Republic, Honduras to some extent benefited from the sudden arrival of Cuban immigrants in the years 1960: this contributed significantly to the rise of the local cigar industry.
Early on the hondurian productions were very well received by cigar smokers particularly in the United States. Unfortunately political disturbances paralysed the country for nearly 30 years. Stabilized since the years 1990, Honduras recovered and the tobacco industry in particular.
The most famous cultivation areas are the valley of Jalapa, the high grounds of Santa Rosa and the valley of Sula, where
many cuban immigrants settled.
The cigars of Honduras are particularly appreciated for their softness and of very round savours. Our selection of vitolas of this country has focused on three brands Flor de Selva from Maya Selva, Flor de Copan and Credo Ligas. |
